Over the past year, Claudia Duedal Højbert has been part of the HEROES University Alliance through the HEROES Student Council alongside her studies as a radiography student at UCN in Aalborg, Denmark. During this time, her engagement has developed into a hands‑on learning experience in international collaboration and project‑based work.
Being part of HEROES has given Claudia insight into how a European university alliance is developed and governed — and how students can actively contribute to that process.
“HEROES has given me a strong international network and helped me grow both personally and professionally. I’ve especially strengthened my skills in project work and cross‑cultural collaboration.”
As a member of the HEROES Student Council, Claudia has contributed actively to the development of the alliance by bringing the student perspective into discussions and decision‑making processes. She has worked to engage fellow students and has taken part in planning and implementing activities across partner institutions in Europe.
Much of Claudia’s work has centred on supporting student engagement and continuity within the alliance. She has contributed to the onboarding of new Student Council members, taken part in initiatives to strengthen visibility and shared identity, and supported the development of common tools used across HEROES.
“I would clearly recommend other students to get involved. HEROES offers international experience, new relationships, and personal development — and it opens doors across Europe, including new job and development opportunities.”
As Claudia is graduating this summer as a radiographer from UCN in Aalborg, Denmark, her role in the Student Council is coming to an end. However, she is continuing as a HEROES alum and has expressed a strong interest in pursuing international work where she can apply the experience and network she has built through the alliance.
Her journey illustrates how student engagement within HEROES has translated into lasting competencies and professional perspectives — benefiting both individual students and the wider development of the HEROES University Alliance.
