As a HEROES teacher, you’re often the one who sets international collaboration in motion. HEROES gives you a safe space to experiment and learn internationally, together with partners who share the same challenge-based approach. Build your network, develop multidisciplinary challenges that prepare your students for the jobs of tomorrow, and open new international opportunities for yourself and your students. Take the lead, team up with colleagues across Europe, and help shape a community that dares to think bigger.
Examples of offerings for researchers via HEROES:
BIPs
Co-develop and teach Blended Intensive Programmes together with colleagues from other HEROES universities, combining online learning with a short period of physical mobility.
Ask your international office contact for current offerings.
HEROLAB, HEROQUEST & GLOBALHEROES
Together with at least two other HEROES partners, develop and teach challenge-based courses built around real-world challenges brought in by external stakeholders such as companies, governments, or NGOs.
Modules & minors
Team up with colleagues from other HEROES universities to co-develop a full module or minor. One partner offers the programme and opens it up to students across the Alliance, who receive a HEROES certificate on completion.

Grow through staff training events, job-shadowing, and mobility across the Alliance — learning first-hand how colleagues at other institutions teach and work.

Lecturers have access to joint teaching opportunities such as Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), challenge-based learning (CBL) courses, and collaborative micro-credential development across partner institutions. These initiatives will support cross-border teaching, shared curriculum design, and innovative learning formats.
Before joining HEROES, I had already built a solid foundation as a teacher. I have around 7 years of teaching experience at a vocational college, and I have now worked at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) for 1 year. Practical learning has always been part of my teaching style, and I often use pair work and group assignments.
Spring arrived early in Mechelen, bringing 18°C sunshine and over 200 international lecturers from across the globe. Among them: Kristina Jakutytė-Ancienė and Inga Piscikiene from VIKO Lithuania, who came to teach and left with so much more. Teaching international classes always brings unexpected moments.
When Lubor Lacina takes the stage, students listen. Not just because he’s a lecturer at Mendel University in the Czech Republic, but because he’s lived the entrepreneurial journey he teaches. And on our International Business Day, the students got a unique look into his personal story.
The HEROES Virtual Campus is currently under development. Access will be enabled here as soon as the platform goes live.
