On May 7–8, the research pod Education, Learning and Inclusion met at UCN in Aalborg for focused working sessions aimed at advancing shared research priorities.
The purpose of the meeting was to align research agendas, strengthen cross‑institutional collaboration, and define clear pathways for upcoming joint research applications. As one of several research pods, the group contributes to building research and knowledge that address key challenges related to regional development and societal resilience.
Discussions centred on the role of AI and digital technologies in education and inclusive societies, with researchers sharing ongoing work and approaches across disciplines. Current collaboration is organised around three core research projects with the following aims:
Nudging Appropriate Behavior
Aim: How teachers’ and students’ professional identities are shaped in constant hybrid (physical/virtual) learning with LLMs and AI.
AI in Teaching and Learning Environments in Pre-primary Education
Aim: Practical use of AI; implications and benefits; how AI changes learning in pre-primary educational settings.
Independent Living, Inclusion & Assistive Technologies
Aim: Support independent living across the life course for people with disabilities; societal and labour market inclusion; participatory and universal design; and the role of assistive technologies.
Several participants also took part in International Days at UCN, providing an international and interdisciplinary backdrop to the working days.
The meeting was an important step on the way forward. With shared priorities, agreed research directions and clear next steps, the research pod now continues its work towards developing joint projects and strengthening future research initiatives.
