Who controls the technology you use every day? Who decides which data is stored, where it is stored and for what purpose? And what happens when the rules differ between countries, organisations and digital platforms?
These questions will shape the professional future of today’s IT students. From 23–27 November 2026, Fontys ICT will host an International Week dedicated to Digital Sovereignty.
During this Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme, students from different IT disciplines and universities will explore what digital sovereignty means, why it matters and what IT professionals can do about it.
The programme will focus on four central aspects:
Students will work in international and multidisciplinary project teams. They will use their creativity and IT knowledge to discuss the theme and develop a solution for a practical assignment. The detailed programme and assignment will be announced later.
By participating, students will deepen their understanding of digital sovereignty and learn how technological choices relate to security, regulation, data ownership and independence. They will also gain experience working in an international environment, strengthen their intercultural collaboration skills and build connections with students and lecturers from other universities.
An online kick-off will take place before the physical international week. This session will introduce the theme and allow participants from the different disciplines and universities to meet. The date and time will be announced later.
