Eva Brooks, Professor in Digital Learning at Halmstad University, is part of the HEROES Pod Learning, Education and Inclusion, where the focus is on identifying common ground for collaborative research projects and funding opportunities.

She is passionate about children’s play and how digital tools and creativity through playfulness can develop their learning. With a long career in higher education, she has consistently prioritized building strong national and international networks.

“Working in smaller institutions, I quickly realized that networks are essential to getting things done—and they make the work much more rewarding.”

Within the HEROES alliance, Eva sees her role as sharing experiences from intercultural settings and network-based projects. Over the years, she has learned the importance of staying connected, nurturing professional relationships, and reaching out to trusted contacts for support and feedback—particularly when developing EU project applications.

“These connections often become long-term collaborations. A conversation or small exchange today can become the foundation for a future project partnership.”

Eva believes digital tools make it easier than ever to maintain professional networks, while emphasizing that in-person meetings remain crucial for building deeper and more meaningful connections.

For institutions like Halmstad University, being part of the HEROES alliance is about much more than funding. It is a powerful platform for strengthening education, developing impactful research, exchanging best practices, and creating meaningful collaboration with society.

Through partnerships like these, ideas grow stronger — and so do the people and institutions behind them.
