University College of Northern Denmark (UCN) is based in the northern part of Denmark and has campus locations in Aalborg, Hjørring, and Thisted. UCN is one of the most wide-ranging university colleges in Denmark, offering study programmes that qualify students for professions in both the private and public sectors.
UCN is an independent, self-governing institution under the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science and is accredited by the Danish Accreditation Council.
The institution produces practice-oriented knowledge in the fields of health care, education, business, and technology. The purpose of UCN’s research is to strengthen its study programmes and to generate knowledge that benefits professionals and the business community. International collaboration is an essential part of UCN’s research profile, and the institution participates in a number of international projects and programmes, both as a contributor and as a project coordinator.
UCN was established in 2007 through a merger of several educational institutions, some with more than 200 years of history in higher education. Today, UCN has approximately 9,000 students enrolled in academy profession and bachelor’s degree programmes, and more than 9,400 participants in continuing education courses.
